Day Seven:
Looking back on the pictures from our first full day in San Fransisco makes me realize just how much we tried to pack in. Drive from Halfmoon Bay, check out the downtown area, hit up Golden Gate Park (Japanese Tea Garden, De Young, Academy of Sciences, Yo-Yo Competition), then over to drive past Fisherman’s Wharf (hated), get stuck in a ridiculous amount of traffic, try to go to Amoeba Records until Christy and Bridget get chased out of a park by a drug dealer, start asking myself what is UP with all the homeless creepy creepies in San Fransisco? Go to Chinatown to try to redeem a lost feeling of enjoyment, eat a pretty decent Chinese meal at House of Nanking, but receive some of the worst service I have ever experienced, then actually redeem the evening with a nice (but quick) walk through of some shops in Chinatown. I had my heart set on capturing some serious detail in the shops here and I think I got what I wanted. Natural light shooting in the De Young was probably the highlight of the day for me. Really love the results. And considering the mid morning light at the Japanese Tea Garden was horrendous, I am super pleased with those results too. As far as the y0-yo championship goes…where else are you just going to stumble across this kind of thing except San Fransisco? That is one crazy town.
It was a day of epic yo-yo-ing, the ups and downs of this city is great! Wait, this city scares me!, capped off by a gorgeous sunset on the way back to Monterey. Next recap will feature more of the same scary scaries, but this time in Berkeley! Looking forward to it…
